DAMN!’s tonal creed resides in the overlapping spheres of mythical Greece and technological futures. Parables from the ancient world continue to oscillate with relevance as we daily contend with ever-manner of gods, monsters and mortals.

Within the multiplexes of the Kampong Java enclave with its coiling dens, rooms, staircases, back alleys and front yards, CAKE stitches a chroma where corporeality and incorporeality intermingle in technologically-infused dreamscapes.

In climates of risk-aversion and flattening consumptions, CAKE observes attitudes of invention and creative willfulness embracing transgenerational explorations across technologies and disciplines; defining multidisciplinary expression within the site-specificity of these restored walls.

Damn if we don’t try to imagine what comes next—together.

Oracular Circuitry

A study in robotic rhythm and response

In collaboration with VAAS, thesupersystem programs robotic plants that move and respond, their gestures shaped by algorithms, mimicking organic motion through mechanical precision. Bound by code, their movement recalls the gods’ unseen hand in The Oresteia—an order imposed upon mortal lives, seemingly inescapable.

Printed scrolls, microcontrollers, servo-controlled rollers, mechanical arms

mármaron takes inspiration from ancient inscriptions of myths on marble to preserve age-old stories. Digitised scans of stones taken from the Greek island of Paros, historically known for its white marble, are printed on scrolls and draped across the space. This creates a landscape of geological artefacts and digital facsimiles. Against this backdrop, exploring acts of mechanical reproduction, print rollers and robotic arms sprawl and twitch repeatedly performing a vicious or virtuous ritual.

In sonic ritual, ambient artist Kin Leonn responds in improvisation to the Songs of Clytemnestra and the inescapable resonance of fate. Performing live with a combination of synths, keys, and manipulation of software samples, a sonic incantation is manifested through echoing swells and seismic drones. The piece unfolds itself in a 6-channel surround sound setup, where the shifting spatiality of sound itself becomes an actor in this spectral play.

Performance on 27 March.

Five dancers freestyle to music on tap as live mapping on their anatomies brandish lines between ecstasy and agony, not unlike the delirium of Greece ravaging Troy, for Helen.

Bl**dlines and vengeance collide, stretching The Oresteia into a wired, unrelenting present. Wearing a breathing vest that inflates and seethes with her body, Clytemnestra receives her Husband-King Agamemnon and his captive priestess Cassandra. The reverent calls of solenoid-activated cymbals do little to diffuse Clytemnestra’s impending response; a reckoning for Agamemnon’s s*crifice of their daughter for favorable winds.

A sentient altar of light-emitting diodes foreshadows inescapable fate.

Between Light and Shadow

A Duplex of Light and Fury.

Drawing from Southeast Asian folklore, Between Light and Shadow foreshadows Agamemnon’s inauspicious return—a cycle of curse and reckoning that reverberates across cultures.

The installation unfolds across two charged spaces:

The Undoing Room, where noise, fragmented projections, and flickering light manifest ancestral burdens and unrest. Live noise musicians emerge as unseen forces, amplifying the chaos—an embodiment of fate’s relentless grip.

The Salve Room, a space of transformation and renewal, bathed in meditative light and ambient sound. In The Salve Room, only the echoes remain, inviting contemplation and release.
